Gallantry decorations & medals
1. Parama Weera Vibhushanaya (පරම වීර විභූෂනය) (Decoration of Supreme Heroism) - is the highest decoration awarded by the Sri Lankan military, equivalent to the British Victoria Cross (the highest decoration in the Ceylon Army until 1972) and the United States Medal of Honor. The medal is awarded to all ranks of the tri services, to both regular- and volunteer forces, in recognition of:
...individual acts of gallantry and conspicuous bravery of a non-military nature of the most exceptional order performed voluntarily with no regard to his own life and security with the objective of saving or safeguarding the life or lives of a person or personnel imperiled by death or for a meritorious act or a series of acts of a humane nature of an exceptional order displayed in saving life from drowning, fire and rescue operations in mines, floods and similar calamities under circumstances of grave bodily injury or great danger to the life of the rescuer...
2. Weerodara Vibhushanaya (වීරෝදාර විභූෂනය) - (Decoration of Heroism) - is the second-highest decoration awarded by the Military of Sri Lanka awarded for:

3. Weera Wickrama Vibhushanaya (වීරා වික්රම විභූෂනය) (Decoration of Heroic Gallantry) - is the third-highest military decoration awarded by the Military of Sri Lanka for:
...individual or associated acts of bravery in the face of the enemy and performed voluntarily...
Meritorious awards & medals
1. Uththama Pooja Pranama Padakkama (උත්තම පූජා ප්රණාම පදක්කම) (Medal of Honour for Supreme Sacrifice) - is the medal presented to the next of kin of all servicepersons of the military and police of Sri Lanka in recognition of a serviceperson's death in the line of duty. It is awarded to the families of personnel confirmed killed in action or missing in action.
2. Desha Putra Sammanaya (දේශ පුත්ර සම්මානය) (Son of the Nation Award) - is a military decoration awarded to servicepersons of the Military of Sri Lanka, equivalent to the United States Purple Heart. The Sri Lanka Police awards an equivalent, related award for its service personnel.
Service decorations & medals
1. Vishista Seva Vibhushanaya (විශිෂ්ඨ සේවා විභූෂනය) (Distinguished Service Decoration) - is awarded to senior officers of the Military of Sri Lanka in recognition of:
...exceptional, distinguished and loyal service provided they count not less than twenty-five years of service and possess an unblemished record of moral and military conduct...
2. Uttama Seva Padakkama (උත්තම සේවා පදක්කම) (Eminent Service Medal) - is presented to all ranks of the regular forces of the Sri Lankan military for:
...valuable service and devotion to duty marked by exceptional ability, merit and exemplary conduct provided they count not less than 15 years continuous and uninterrupted service and possess and unblemished record of moral and military conduct...
...active service outside the territorial limits of the Island provided such service is connected with active service in a Foreign Military Mission or Campaign or in the defence of Sri Lanka or for service connected with military or peace keeping operations conducted under the auspices of the United Nations Organization...
4. Sri Lanka Armed Services Long Service Medal - is a service award presented to all ranks of the tri-forces of Sri Lanka. Service personnel are eligible for the award on the completion of 12 years' continuous (desertion or absence without leave act as disqualifiers) service with perfect character and discipline. General officers commanding/area commanders/commanding officers forward recommendations to service commanders. Reserve- or volunteer forces may qualify for this award provided that their service periods add up to 12 years.
A clasp is awarded to service personnel on completing 20 years' continuous service with the same character quality and disciplinary record required for award of the medal.
This award replaced the Ceylon Armed Services Long Service Medal in 1972 when Sri Lanka became a republic.
5. Purna Bhumi Padakkama (පූර්ණ භූමි පදක්කම) - was a military decoration awarded by the Military of Sri Lanka (regular and volunteer) and Sri Lanka Police to all ranks of its forces in recognition of service in various districts that were regarded as theaters of the Sri Lankan Civil War.
6. North and East Operations Medal - was a decoration presented to servicepersons of the Military of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Police for service in the country's Northern and Eastern provinces during the course of the Sri Lankan Civil War.
7. Karyakshama Seva Vibhushanaya (කාර්යක්ෂම සේවා විභූෂනය) (Efficient Service Decoration) (Army) - is a service medal awarded by the Military of Sri Lanka to commissioned officers of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, in recognition of "...long, meritorious, loyal and valuable service of proven capacity". Established on 7 January 1986, it does not confer any individual precedence.
The KSV replaced the British Efficiency Decoration in 1972 (awarded to volunteer officers of the Ceylon Army), and is roughly equivalent to the Volunteer Reserves Service Medal.
8. Karyakshama Seva Padakkama (කාර්යක්ෂම සේවා පදක්කම) (Efficient Service Medal) (Army) - is a service medal awarded by the Military of Sri Lanka to all servicepersons of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force in recognition of "...long, meritorious, loyal and valuable service of proven capacity". Established on 7 January 1986, the medal does not confer any individual precedence
The KSP replaced the British Efficiency Decoration in 1972 (awarded to volunteer non-commissioned ranks of the Ceylon Army)
9. Prashansaniya Seva Vibhushanaya (ප්රශන්සනිය සේවා විභූෂනය) (Commendable Service Decoration) (Navy) - is a military decoration awarded to officers of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force in recognition of excellent service, inaugurated on 31 January 2000. The medal does not confer any individual precedence, and is equivalent to the Reserve Decoration of the Royal Navy.
10. Prashansaniya Seva Padakkama (ප්රශන්සනිය සේවා පදක්කම) (Commendable Service Medal) (Navy) - is a medal awarded by the Military of Sri Lanka to all noncomissioned officers and seamen of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force in recognition of "long, meritorious, loyal, valuable, service and unblemished conduct". It was established on 31 January 2000, and does not confer any individual precedence.
